In a study carried out for clinical purpose, the diet of normal and hypercholesterolaemic men aged 35-55 years was supplement withAmla for twenty-eight days. Both groups showed a decrease in total serum cholesterol levels, which within two weeks returned almost to their first values after stopping the administration ofAmla.Amla is one of the chief constituents of a siddha preparation used for the avoidance and reversal of atherosclerotic disease.
